The NCLEX-RN is the standardized licensure examination that all graduates of accredited nursing programs must pass to become licensed Registered Nurses in the United States, Canada, and other jurisdictions. It tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for safe and competent entry-level nursing practice.
The Next Generation NCLEX-RN uses a computer adaptive testing (CAT) model with a minimum of 85 and maximum of 150 questions. The exam includes traditional multiple-choice and newer clinical judgment question types such as extended multiple response, cloze (drop-down), enhanced hot spot, matrix, and bow-tie items. Time limit is 5 hours.
